Kentuckians can now purchase health insurance through kynect
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) – Kentuckians can start purchasing health care coverage through kynect.
Health officials we spoke with are calling it a victory for Kentuckians.
From Monday, you can go online and browse health coverage options like you could eight years ago.
Officials at the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky say, given the time we have, it’s huge. “
“We know that the more people there are who can easily get health care coverage and have better access to health care, the better off we all as Kentuckians,” said Allison Adams, Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky, VP of Policy.
In 2013, kynect was first deployed under the Affordable Care Act. In 2016, this program which serves as a database of health care providers and insurance options for Kentuckians was discontinued.
Now it’s back.
Adams says they know the impact this one-stop shop can have because they saw the concern that arose when he disappeared.
“We saw the impact it had on the Kentuckians who were used to having this blanket and worried that they would be denied that access,” Adams said. âPolicies like these ensure that Kentuckians have access to the health care coverage they need. “
Adams says his organization is happy to see the program resurface and calls it a good first step in the fight for Kentuckian healthcare.
âIt’s huge. This is a song. It’s kind of like we got this victory, if you will, for the Kentuckians, but also know that there is a lot of work ahead of us to make sure that Kentuckians have a fair chance to be cured, âAdams said.
Open registrations will remain open until January 15th.
